can you mix and match different brand barrel fronts and backs for a paintball gun?

for example, can i combine a 14"/16" deathstix carbon fiber front with a dye ultralite back? (autococker threaded). or dye front with sly back?
just in general, or all combos work, or just some?

Most do not work unless specified. For instance, Stiffi makes fronts that will fit some other barrel backs, like CP & Dye Ultralite backs. Smart Parts' barrels are interchangeable; for instance, you can put an All American front on a Freak back, and many people do because the AA front actually looks better than the Freak front.

Deathstix front won't fit an Ultralite back. Nor will an Ultralite front fit a Sly back. Even if they did fit a Sly back, the barrel would be way short, as Sly backs are only about 2 inches long but Ultralite backs are 5-6 inches.
