What is the best AEG airsoft gun for a beginner and what else should I get?

I'm just starting out with airsofting and I wanted to get a cheap airsoft gun that will last me a while and not break (preferable full metal) so I don't have to buy another one. I was looking at M16s but any thing that looks cool, has a large battery compartment and won't make me go bankrupt is good. Also what else should I get for airsofting? I have an ACU and I was going to also get a CO2 pistol, a helmet, a crossdraw vest, a hydration pack, some BBs, and spare mags. I have $500 right now and so far I'm just looking around Airsoft GI. Need some help.
I have some experience with airsoft, just don't have a gun myself. And I don't want to bother with buying a beginner gun, I just want to jump into it. I don't have money to buy more than one gun, I need to get everything that I need in one go and, hopefully, buy nothing else besides BBs after this.

With a $500 price tag you can do a lot. What I would suggest for your $500 would be:

KWA m16. Those things are amazing out of the box shooting right at the 400 mark, they have an insane rate of fire (like 1000 rpm with an 8.4v), you can fit a 9.6v large type battery, and their internals are amazing quality. Buy one of those and you will probably not have to get another airsoft gun for a few years. Also, they have as much metal as you find on an airsoft m16 and there is no wobble or creak at all in the body. You pick it up and you know you have a quality piece.

For a pistol buy a WE m1911. They are full metal and super accurate. You can use one to hit man sized targets at 40-50 yards easily.

That's just my .02 and the only thing I can really give you in advice is remember that you get what you pay for. Buy a cheap airsoft gun now and it will cost you more in the future when you replace it.
