PAINTBALL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR PAINTBALL EVENT
VIOLATION OF, OR REFUSAL TO FOLLOW THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE GROUNDS FOR REFUSAL TO PARTICIPATE AND/OR REMOVAL FROM PARTICIPATION.
ALTHOUGH PAINTBALL CAN BE FUN AND INSTRUCTIVE, THERE ARE INHERENT DANGERS. DANGER CAN BE GREATLY REDUCED, IF NOT ELIMINATED, BY FOLLOWING SAFETY GUIDELINES, USE OF PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT, AND EXERCISE OF COMMON SENSE.
IF THERE WERE TO BE ONE SUGGESTION ONLY, IT WOULD BE TO TREAT A PAINTBALL GUN AS IF IT WERE A REAL WEAPON.
Quick List of Safety Guidelines
- Treat a paintball gun as if it were a real weapon.
- Always handle a paintball gun as if it were loaded.
- Do not allow small children to have access to paintball guns.
- Any person under the age of 18 should use the equipment only under direct and constant adult supervision, if at all, or be authorized by a parent or guardian to participate.
- Never look directly into the muzzle/barrel.
- Always wear proper safety equipment that protects your eyes, ears, face, and head. Ordinary glasses or safety goggles are NOT enough. Do not remove this safety equipment even for a moment.
- Always wear proper clothing and safety equipment that protects your entire body. Body armor and vests are highly recommended.
- Never store or transport a gun loaded with ammo or CO2.
- Always store and transport equipment in a proper bag or case.
- Always store equipment in a safe and secure location.
- The safety should always be on until ready to fire.
- Keep your finger away from the trigger until ready to fire.
- Never fire in the direction of someone's head, especially at close range.
- Be aware of your target and the area beyond your target.
CO2 cartridges, canisters, tanks and cylinders should never be exposed to extremely hot or cold conditions. Even direct sunlight or a closed car on a warm day can lead to excessive temperature.
- Any equipment that has experienced actual or suspected damage or malfunctioned should immediately be removed from use.
General Safety
- Always handle a paintball gun as if it were loaded and ready to fire.
- Paintball pellets are shot with significant force. Eye, ear, face, and head protection must be worn at ALL times. Do not remove this equipment even for a moment.
- Equipment must have the legally required safety markings.
- Improperly modified equipment or equipment with excess muzzle velocity will not be allowed.
- Paintball guns and accessories must be transported and stored in a proper bag or case.
- CO2 shall not be left in direct sunlight or exposed to excessive temperature.
- Any CO2 cartridge that has experienced actual or suspected malfunction or damage must immediately be removed from use.
- Used and/or empty CO2 cartridges must be properly disposed of.
Eye, Ear, Face, Head, and Body Protection
- Full and proper eye, ear, face, and head protection must be worn at ALL times and must not be removed during the activity. Ordinary eyeglasses or safety goggles will NOT be allowed in the absence of other adequate protective equipment.
- All other parts of your body must be completely and thickly covered. Body armor and vests are highly recommended.
- Never fire at the head of another person, especially at close range.
General Legal Requirements
- No equipment will be allowed unless it meets all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those regarding safety markings, performance, and function.
Transportation and Handling
- Paintball guns and accessories must be transported in proper bags or cases, and stored in secured locations by adequate means.
- Children shall not be given access to paintball guns or accessories except by their parent or guardian and with written authorization for the activity.
- No paintball gun or CO2 accessories are to be left unattended unless adequately stored and secured.
- No paintball gun is to be left unattended when loaded with ammo or CO2 even if otherwise adequately stored and secured.
- The safety shall remain on at all times except when ready to fire during the actual activity.
- CO2 must not be left in a closed environment such as a car trunk or car with the windows closed, especially in hot weather.
- All paintball guns and accessories shall be stored and transported in a manner that prevents children from having access to them.
CO2 Cartridge Handling and Safety
- Only recommended cartridges and canisters may be used.
- Eye protection should be worn when handling CO2 cartridges, canisters, or tanks.
- CO2 must not be stored in an area of unusually high or low temperature or left in direct sunlight.
- Disposable cartridges may not be reused once expended.
- Empty cartridges must be properly and safely disposed of.
- Empty cartridges must not be exposed to high temperature.
- CO2 cartridges, tanks, or canisters that have experienced actual or suspected damage or malfunction shall immediately be removed from use.
- Improperly modified CO2 cartridges, tanks or canisters are not allowed.
- Any applicable requirements for re-testing must be met.
